Saturday Edition of Meet Your Maker: H Fredriksson
H Fredriksson is a
collection designed with a modern, artistic and sustainable conscious purpose.
Inspired by the dark psychology of Bergman Films and contemporary European
painting, the collection has an air of melancholic beauty, drawn from the austere
silhouettes of the Nordic landscape. The overall mood of the line is one of
time and timelessness, yet the details, silhouettes and design breathe modern
contemporary culture. Thru balancing tailored garments with oversized and
loosely draped pieces she creates a juxtaposition that is the core of the H
Fredriksson aesthetic. With a sense of past and present, the designer’s belief
in traditional craft as well as in a future of new sustainable fabric
technologies is marked in the mindful fabric choices of the collection. The collection is manufactured in New York City
using sustainable fabrics and production methods. The Swedish designer Helena Fredriksson lives and works
in Brooklyn where she combines the two
worlds into a sophisticated collection which reflects both the Scandinavian
aesthetics of her upbringing and the multi cultured reality of living in New
York City. She balances the fashion sense with her art background and brings
the intricate nature inspired fabric prints, created from her photographs and
drawings, into the collection for an intimate touch. H Fredriksson has been worn by Cameron Diaz,
Alek Wek, Ana Matronic amoung other dedicated followers.
The designer has created customs for Performa Artists
like Wangechi Mutu & Dorit Chrysler, Kitchen Choreographers like Isabel
Gotowsky, Felicia Ballos & Nancy Garcia. She has further designed uniforms
for, and is continuously collaboration with, Sanshodo, a Japanese company.
Helena also curated The Color Palate Project an art, food and film project
showed in New York and that will travel to Tokyo and Europe in the future.
She has previously contributed to gallery
shows in NYC and Sweden, and has been featured in 4 published books and several
US and international magazines.

Sunday Edition of Meet Your Maker: Karie Laks
Karie Laks is a designer living and launching her eponymous line in New York City. From Southern California and with a Bachelor of Arts from USC, her interest in fashion design brought her to New York, where she obtained a degree at Parsons the New School for Design. With design and production experience in-house at Proenza Schouler and Vera Wang under her belt, Karie now presents her debut collection of ready-to-wear. While Karie cites her wardrobe of vintage frocks as inspiration, the aesthetic balances references to the past with a modern, relaxed sensibility. Her personal background in dance also directly inspires the line, with an appreciation for movement and the transformational property of costume. While maintaining a classic, subtle irreverence, the Karie Laks line is for the woman who sees the pieces as part of her story. Karie Laks resides in Brooklyn and the collection is proudly produced in New York City.

Pop-Up for Dreamers Designer of the Day
Meet Your Maker: Mad Brooklyn
"I am absolutely mad for aromatherapy and extremely passionate about sculpture, so I decided to combine the two and MAD BROOKLYN was born. Aromatic essences have an amazing ability to transform your state of mind. I hope that when you light up one of my candles, not only will you feel energized, inspired, invigorated and relaxed, but the glowing flame through the surrealistic forms will evoke fantasy and inspires wonder in your home."

It is also infused with Tarragon which pairs just lovely with a nice Gin & Tonic, also perfect for warmer weather. Lately we've been thinking it's about time you met some of the brilliant minds behind Pop-Up for Dreamers. In our first edition of Meet the Dreamers we would like to introduce you to Danielle Schneiderman!
danielle is writer, story teller and an all-around idiot. she loves wearing sweatpants, lives for the proper use of a semicolon and can eat an entire party-size bag of dill pickle chips in one sitting.she is incredibly indecisive, loves bacon more than most things and thinks that laughing is the coolest thing that can come out of a human's mouth (other than swear words). she lives in brooklyn, sometimes wears glasses and loves delegating as many life choices to her dog, hillary clinton, as possible.there are usually (always) weird and inappropriate thoughts running through her head. sometimes she puts them on greeting cards or doodles them onto a tshirt.
